My Top 10 Cleveland Wedding Venues for 2023

Photographer: Dennis Crider

When it comes to choosing a venue for your Cleveland wedding, the options are endless which is why it’s crucial to begin your search by answering the most important questions about your wedding FIRST.

  1. How many guests are you planning to have?

  2. What is your budget?

  3. What time of year are you planning to get married?

  4. Are you having a reception and ceremony at the same location?

All of those questions must be answered BEFORE you can confidently choose a venue.

Once you’ve answered those questions, you can move forward with visiting venues KNOWING that you aren’t walking into a money trap or choosing a wedding venue that’s too small for your guest list.

But you’re probably both busy, working professionals who don’t really have the time to research and visit 100 wedding venues all over northeast Ohio.

So, as a wedding planner with over 20 years planning events in northeast Ohio, I’ve broken down my top 10 wedding venues in Cleveland, Ohio based on the following categories:

  1. Downtown Cleveland Wedding Venues

  2. Newest Cleveland Venues I love

  3. Venues on Lake Erie

  4. Venues on the East Side of Cleveland

And good news.

I already know how many guests these venues can accommodate, who caters, if they’re updated, how the service is, and all of the questions that you’ll need to ask each location BEFORE reserving your DREAM wedding venue.

Downtown Cleveland Wedding Venues

There are tons of downtown options for weddings and events, but the ones listed below are my favorite for various reasons.I have planned several gorgeous events at these locations, and know first hand, you can’t go wrong with any of them (depending on your answers to the 4 most important venue questions).

1. Music Box Supper Club

Photographer: Kevin Chuey

Location: The flats of Cleveland, Ohio

Capacity: Supper Club Event Room Seats 250 guests

This smaller, more intimate venue, can host your ceremony outside while still having an indoor reception. There is also outdoor availability during the reception if you want the option of having guests visit and enjoy the night where they feel most comfortable.

2. The Marriott Downtown at Key Tower

Photographer: New Image Photography

Location: Downtown Cleveland, Ohio

Capacity: Grand Ballroom can seat up to 650 guests

After planning several weddings in this location, I feel I can call myself an expert on the Key Marriott in Downtown Cleveland. Inside you’ll find a newly renovated area, huge ballroom, great staffing and service, and a ceremony location

PLUS your guests can stay right at the hotel for convenience. Its downtown location also offers fantastic photo locations for the newlyweds and bridal party.

3. The Hilton

Location: Downtown Cleveland

Capacity: Largest Ballroom can seat up to 600-700 guests

The Hilton offers multiple ballroom options and various themed rooms for couples looking to host a weekend filled with various events for their guests. A hotel venue is a great location if your guest list has a lot of people traveling from out of town.

Since The Hilton has so many different event rooms and an outdoor bar, you can host a welcome party, ceremony, reception, after party, and brunch the morning after your wedding all in this one location.

Newest Cleveland Venues I Love

4. Truss Event Venue

Location: Ohio City

Capacity: Main ballroom seats 300

Truss is BRAND SPANKING NEW and MODERN so it has state of the art sound systems and spectacular views of downtown Cleveland. It definitely offers the best value for a high end look because package pricing includes everything.

To top it off, they have a huge terrace available for guests as well, and if you want to have a ceremony on site, there are spaces available.

5. The Elliot

Location: Tremont

Capacity:  Ballroom seats 200

This is probably one of the coolest, newly renovated wedding venues in Cleveland because the outside looks like a very old stone church, but the updated inside will blow your mind.

The venue has 2 suites for the couple and bridal party to get ready, beautiful photo locations, and separate spaces for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The pictures of this space speak for themselves.

6. Basil Place

Location: Chardon, Ohio 40 minutes from downtown Cleveland

Capacity: Seats up to 250 guests at the barn

There are so many amenities to like about this working farm that now offers a brand new wedding experience. If you’re looking for an authentic rustic yet upscale and modern location that’s close enough for your guests, then this gorgeous estate is your place.

Get married overlooking a beautiful lake surrounded by northeastern Ohio (link instagram) foliage in the summer or fall months and host a reception inside with outdoor options as well.

Venues Overlooking Lake Erie

7. Great Lakes Science Center

Location: Downtown Cleveland, Ohio on Lake Erie

Capacity: Seats 100-250 guests depending on room choice

If you want a wedding venue that overlooks Lake Erie and offers the same views as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for half the price, this may just be your spot.

Their event spaces include a massive outdoor patio as well as an indoor option with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake because of that unpredictable Cleveland, Ohio weather.

8. Shoreby Club

Photographer: Style and Story

Location: Bratenahl, Ohio northeast of downtown Cleveland

Capacity: Seats 150-200 guests

Shoreby Club is an upscale, chic, restored mansion with a country club vibe. The club sets up a tent that overlooks Lake Erie for larger events each year.

Don’t worry, the tent is not a typical tent that you may be envisioning. It looks, feels, and acts like a banquet space but with fresh air and the sounds of moving water in the background.

East Side Wedding Venues

When you’re from the Cleveland area, you know that there are those who love the west side and those who love the east side.

I’m not saying I love one more than the other because I work with couples from both, but I am saying I live on the east side.

9. Sapphire Creek Winery

Location: Chagrin Falls, Ohio

Capacity: Seats 220 Guests

The photos speak for themselves at Sapphire Creek Winery. It is spectacular. There are tons of options for outdoor ceremony spaces (covered and uncovered), cocktail hour, and the reception, any of which will leave your guests speechless.
